Trenton is indeed a historic community. There are numerous landmarks that = are significant to the development of the city. If properly promoted, these landma= rks may
provide great economic resource = to the community. I would reshape th= e Trenton Downtown Association in a way that it would focus on our resources. Tourist= who come to the city spend money in shops and restaurants. They buy gas and they patronize lo= cal businesses. Progressive marke= ting and promotion would serve to increase local community revenue.

I do not support the destruction of such a fine architectur= al structure as the high school
I support renovation and improvement in line with historical architectural design. To demo= lish the high school would be too costly and would require complete mobilization= of students at the high school. = Such a plan that would displace 2,000 students would surely prove unworkable.

I am keenly aware of the contributions of African American.= There are several books that relat= e to the community. I would encour= age and promote historical landmark tours through the African American community. There are schools, buildings and structures that are particularly related to the African Ameri= can community that are still a part of the community. The Higbee St. School, T= he old Lincoln School, Mt Zion A= ME Church as well as a number of landmarks are still present in the community. I would promote th= ese resources as they are critical to our historic past.

Yes, I would support the city commission to insure that historic properties are well preserved. I live in a historic part of the city and my house is on the historic registr= y.
I truly understand what is at stake for the community as it relates to our wonderful historic past.

Yes, I do The State Historic tax credit act would support those historic buildings that are in private hands. It would allow= tax relief in order that residents might defray the cost that such historic cit= es might generate.

Yes, I would. I would go further to suggest that we might seek to expand beyond those boundaries. Much of the city = is shrouded in historic events. = Such events have been the
hallmark of our freedom. Such areas need to be preserved at=

cost. The city of Trenton, in=

ways, set the stage for victory that led to our independence. We celebrate our past and look for=
ward
to the future. Our historic p=

the foundation of our freedoms and we must never forget this.
