This Indenture Made the second day of february in the Year in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and thirty Nine Between Joseph Cleayton of Trenton Within the County of Hunterdon and province of New Jersey Carpenter of the one part and Samuel Mead of the Same place Curryer of the Other part Witnefseth that Whereas Isaac Harrow did Convey a Certain lott of land unto George Ely Jun’r Situate in xxx (possibly Trenton) xxx bounded as follows Viz: Beginning at a Stone on the North Side of Pettits run being on the East Side of the said xxx xxx xxx xxx North four deg’s East one Chaine and forty links to a Stone thence North eighty deg’s East two Chaines and twenty Eight links by xxx xxx to a Stone by an old Stump then South fourteen deg’s East one Chaine to the aforesaid run of water then South Seventy one deg’s fifteen Mins xxx xxx xxx Seventy three links to the Cornor of beginning Containing one Quarter of an Acre and Six pearches of ground, and the said George Ely did Convey the one Mojety or halfe part thereof unto Samuel Johnson Who by deed bearing date the seventh day of June Anno 1737 did Convey the same to Joseph Cleayton party to these presents As by the recited deed of Conveyance relation being thereunto filed will More at large appear Now this Indenture xxx xxx Witnefseth that the Said Joseph Cleayton for and in Consideration of the Sum of one hundred and forty five pounds Curr’t money of New Jersey to him in hand paid by the Said Samuel Mead at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge and whereof and of every part thereof doth acquit release and discharge the Said Samuel Mead his heirs Ex’rs (Executors) adm’rs (administrators) and every of them forever by these presents

Hath granted bargained Sold aliened enfeoffed released Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents doth freely Clearly and absolutely grant bargain Sell release Convey and Confirm unto the said Samuel Mead and his heirs and afsigns forever the aboves’d Mojety or one halfe part of the above described lott of land With one halfe of the Mill mill house thereon and one halfe of the Tan xxx or pitts their Sunk and planted Together with all the hids (hides) and leather Which The Said Samuel Mead has in pofsefsion of the Said Joseph Cleayton as also one halfe part of the Millstone Knives and other the Implements thereunto belonging with all the xxx waters water Courses rights liberties priviledges hereditaments and appurtenances to the Same or in any Wise appertaining and reversions and Remainders thereof With all the rents Ifsues and profits arising from the Same To have and to hold the Said Mojety or halfe part of the Said lott of Land and all and Singular the promifses hereby granted or xxx (mentioned?) with the appurtenances unto the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns to the only proper use and behoof of the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns by these presents forever, And the Said Joseph Cleayton for him Selfe and his heirs Ex’rs Doth Covenant promis and grant to and with the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns by these presents in manner following that is to Say that he the Said Joseph Cleayton Now at the time of the Sealing and Delivery of this present Indenture is the true Sole and lawfull owner of the Said land and premifses hereby granted with the appurtenances and is lawfully rightfully and absolutely Seised thereof and of every part thereof (or whereof) as of a good and Indefeasable Estate of Inheritance in fee Simple without any Condition Contingent Limitation or other thing to xxx (Determine?) or make Void the Same and that the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns and every of them Shall and may by force & Virtue of these Presents from time to time and at all times forever hereafter Lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use Occupy pofsefs and Enjoy the S’d land and premifses hereby granted and every part thereof without the lawfull lett Suit trouble Eviction Ejection or any other Interuption of any person or persons what-Soever lawfully Claiming or pretending to Claim any part or parcel thereof the quit rents thereout Ifsuing unto our Sovereign Lord the King his heirs and Succefsors with the arrearages Whereof if any be only Excepted And the Said Joseph Cleayton for him Selfe and his heirs doth Covenant and agree to and with the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns that the Said land and premifses hereby granted unto the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns against all Persons whatsoever lawfully Claiming or pretending to Claim any part thereof Shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents, And that he the Said Joseph Cleayton and his heirs and all and every other person or persons Whatsoever Lawfully Claiming or to Claime any Estate right title or Intrest of in or to the premifses or any part thereof Shall and will at any time or times hereafter and at the reasonable request Cost and Charge xxx xxx of the Said Samuel Mead his heirs or afsigns Make Execute and acknowledge or Cause to be , all & of every Such further and Other reasonable act or acts to be With the appurtenances unto the Said Samuel Mead his heirs and afsigns forever In Witness Whereof the S’d Joseph Cleayton hath hereunto Sett his hand and Seal the day and year above written Anno 1739
